Theory & Psychology publishes three types of reviews: Regular Book Reviews (approximately 1,000 words), Review Essays (full length articles reviewing multiple books on a related topic), and Review Notes (approximately 500 words).  The journal reviews newly released monographs broadly relevant to theory in psychology and attempts to cover a diverse range of topics in the review section.  Books chosen for review are deemed important or ground-breaking in some way.   Moreover, specialists are asked to review in depth rather than describe contents superficially.  (Several sample book reviews may be obtained from Volume 12(3) by clicking this link .  Note that this is a pdf file.)

  • Book reviews are typically solicited although we do invite suggestions for books to be reviewed as well as self-nominations of reviewers. If you know of a book that ought to be reviewed in Theory & Psychology , please contact one of the Book Review Editors, Lorraine Radtke or Stanton Wortham .
  • If you are the author, the editor, or the publisher of a book you would like to see reviewed in Theory & Psychology , please forward, or have your publisher forward, a review copy (clearly labelled as such) to us at our mailing address:
